Paphiopedilum niveum Stein
One of the most beautiful of the Paphs. Pure pristine white with varying degree of burgundy spots and the bright yellow staminode. This is in the background of almost all of the modern day complex whites. Paph niveum seems to be a true albinistic species, washing out the color of almost any other parent when hybridizing. Although a small flower, this is very rewarding to grow with beautiful foliage. There is a pure alba form that is pure white.
According to Koopowitz, plants originally imported as Paph niveum var. angthong are actually Paph godefroyae.
