Found on the western part of the Sunda Islands in Indonesia (West of New Guinea).  Distinguished by its high gloss of the flowers.  This characteristic is used in hybridizing and is generally passed on to its progeny. 

Plant is can be difficult to grow in culture, seems to like open well draining mixes.
