Paphiopedilum dianthum Tang & Wang

Paph parishii var dianthum

Paph dianthum

This is an interesting species in how it holds it petals.  It is suppose to grow lithophytically in nature, but I have had success with it in cocconut chunks.  Typically having from 2 to 5 flowers, this plant is from the Yunnan province of China and the northern area of Thailand.  It is always amazing to me how this plant want found in the late 1930's but the Parvi Paphs escaped detection until the late 1970's.  Seems to be easy to grow and flower, at least for me.

Grow in regular cocconut mix.
