The following are pictures of awards given on October 2, 1999 at the
Escalante Orchid Society Show. They are published in this forum for
information only to encourage judging participation and provide
education of hybridizing trends and recognition of quality hybrids
and species. All awards are provisional until published in the AOS
Awards Quarterly and this information should be treated as
preliminary.
Odontoglossum pardinum 'San Damiano' CBR
species

Two psuedobulbs, 3.0 x 6.2 cm, in a 15 cm pot; 1 pseudobulb leafless,
1 with three leaves, 3.0 x 55 cm; 14 flowers and 59 buds on one 51 cm
long inflorescence with eleven branches; flowers pale green,
attractively spotted brownish-maroon, cupped and recureved, all
segments randomly twisted and undulating at margins; lip pale green,
spotted maroon, white basally.

species

A well-grown compact plant, 25 cm. across in a 10 cm. pot; five
pseudobulbs, 2 cm long by 1.6 cm wide, leaves 2.6 cm wide by 12.5 cm
l.ong; four flowers and 23 buds on four 25-30 cm long, attractively
arching inflorescences; sepals chartreuse overlaid tan over central
2/3; petals chartreuse overlaid warmer tan over central 2/3; lip
chartreuse heavily overlaid warm tan, with two distinct white keels
basally, distal edge of lip fringed in white; column white; substance
firm; texture waxy.
