The following are pictures of recent awards of the RMRJC. They are published in this forum for information only to encourage judging participation and provide education of hybridizing trends and recognition of quality hybrids and species. All awards are provisional until published in the AOS Awards Quarterly and this information should be treated as preliminary.


Stanhopea tigrina 'Black Lagoon' AM/AOS 88 points

Eight flowers and five buds on six inflorescences and five immature inflorescences growing on a large plant; sepals and petals yellow, heavily spotted and blotched maroon; column, lip wings and distal portion of lip creamy yellow spotted blood red, central portion butter yellow, base dark blood red; texture very glossy; substance extreamely heavy. The flower had much fuller and rounder form than ususal because of the nearly horizontal presentation of the lateral sepals.

Eight charming, star-shaped flowers and three buds on four inflorescences; sepals and petals light green; dorsal sepal and petals tipped with slight fucshia flaring; lip fucshia, striated yellow at base; column white; substance good; texture matte.

Forty-three slightly fragrant flowers and four buds, well-presented on two branched inflorescences; sepals and petals lavender; lip white heavily overlaid with magenta veeining, fading towards base of column; substance and texture average.

Eight flowers and sixty-seven buds evenly distributed on fifteen inflorescences on a beautifully grown plant in a twelve inch basket; leaves virtually immaculate, averaging 10 cm. wide x 53 cm long growing on a 112 cm. diameter plant; flowers yellow burgundy markings; substance and fragrance less than expected.

Paph Lynleigh Koopowitz 'Georgina Bow' HCC/AOS 76 points

Two flowers, no buds, well-held on one 40 cm. stem; dorsal very pale green; sepals and petals ivory-green with light purple tesellations, tesellations more pronounced along margins of petals; pouch ivory-green suffused rose-purple around upper edge, dense purple stippling of interior of pouch clearly visible; staminode white basally, shield burgundy; substance and texture average.
