Brachypetalum Hybrids:
These should all be albinistic, but the real target is strong, upright stems.
The goal here is rounded yellow flowers blushed with red tones, the whole overlaid with pepperspots. Be aware that some flowers will have streaky color. This style flower remains scarce.
Tall stems for brachypetalums are always a goal. We know from the first strain of this grex, made by The Orchid Zone, that this cross produces them. The P. niveum 'Snowball' is extremely round, and is crossed with the volumptuous white of 'Flatso', so we look for good form in the progeny.
The pod parent is (Mystic Isle x Greyi). Its flower is a pure white hemisphere on a tall, straight stem. The pollen parent is from the Orchid Zone strain, large and full of fat petals. Many of the seedlings, yet unbloomed, exhibit leaves without purple color, like the Greyi v. album grandparent.
Contemporary, complex brachy breeding should have specific targets. Here we are aiming for flat flowers with thick substance. Color will range from white to creamy yellow.
